Liputan6.com, Jakarta - For more than four decades since its diplomatic inception in 1973, both Indonesia and South Korea have successfully maintained a fairly desirable relationship with each other. Cooperation in various sectors has always been a pivotal force within the relationship as it laid the very foundation of continuing partnership that was established for a long period of time.

The ability of attaining as well as maintaining such desirable stage of relationship is surely motivated by the evidently and mutually beneficial bilateral exchanges done by the two in the past, at the current time and the impending ones planned for the future.

"Indonesia is very important for Korea. Similarly, Korea is also very important to Indonesia,” South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Cho Tai-young shared to Liputan6.com ‘The Ambassador’ during interview session held a while ago.

The two countries have their own intrinsic worth and unique values that the other fascinates over and each year hitherto, such fascination grows in a positive trend, showing an increase of attractiveness of both countries in sectors beyond the traditional spheres of economic and politics.

"We have now strategic partnership in many areas. We have a very big and wide relation with one another," he explained ambitiously.

Though seemingly traditional and minimally innovative, the sector of economy with emphasis primarily on trade and investment undertakings between the two, has been particularly successful in encouraging a hike in their trade volume.

"Our trade volume is between 30 billion US Dollars and 25 Billion US Dollars," he informed.

According to him, even though the bilateral cooperation in the sector of trade is designed to equally satisfy the wants and needs of both nations, ‘trade surplus is in Indonesia’s favor’. This suggests the fact that South Korea has been contributing very significantly to the growth of Indonesian economy even when it is not blatantly exposed to the general public.
