Liputan6.com, Jakarta - With Indonesia’s enduring political problems, especially within its internal spectrum, Vice President Jusuf Kalla encourages students to reconsider any desire to assume politician role in the future.
According to him, Indonesia lacks professionals and businesspeople and those should be areas of expertise that students ought to look forward to more than being involved in the intricate domestic political atmosphere.

“I see so many of our young generations willing and aiming to become politicians and civil servants in the future. The number exceeds those who are willing to become professionals and businesspeople in other areas of expertise. Indonesia needs more varieties in the future,” Vice President Jusuf Kalla explained during the opening of 29th congress of Indonesia’s Catholic Students Association (PMKRI) and 28th congress for Members of Consultative Assembly (MPA) at the Vice Presidential office held earlier today, Monday (25/1/2016).
“This country will find it hard to progress should everyone desire statesmanship position and in order for this nation to move forward in a more correct pathway, we need to see a fair distribution of everyone in other areas of expertise. Therefore I strongly urge for students to think forward beyond that desire of becoming part of the government,” he added.
This does not mean that Vice President Jusuf Kalla disavow and attempt to eliminate those who want to criticize the government. Criticizing is acceptable for him as long as it is not always expressed in a more pejorative way.
“Criticizing the government should be done in a fairer way. Don’t judge the government only in critical moments, but appreciate its ability to maintain normality at many times as well,” he explained.
He further explained that students ought to consider roles in the future that could help the country manage its wide-ranging issues starting from poverty, environmental, social gap and many others.
