The Head of BMKG, Dwikorita Karnawati, was at the parliament building for a meeting with the Commission V. The commission has the duty to oversee the infrastructure and transportation.

During the earthquake, she reportedly tried to cover herself under the table.

"Excuse me, if there is an earthquake, hide under the table," she said. Furthermore, she advised people to leave the building.

"Excuse me, sir, if there is another, please go under the table. If the situation has become calm, it's better for us to go out through the door," said Dwikorita.

The Deputy Chief of Commission V, Robert Rouw, jokingly responded there was only one door.

Dwikorita suggested continuing the meeting for the time being, however Robert decided to suspend the earthquake for 30 minutes.
