Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The tickets of Radwimps Asian Tour 2023 in Jakarta are swiftly sold out on the first day of sale, Monday (10/4/2023). Just within minutes of opening, all of the tickets were fully booked.
It is no surprise to find the band's massive popularity in Indonesia. Long before K-Pop entered the mainstream in the 2010s, the Japanese pop (J-Pop) culture has already gained immense popularity in Indonesia (and other Southeast Asian countries) thanks to the anime and manga.

The band is going to hold a concert in Jakarta on 30 July 2023 as part of their international tour. The promoter says this is the band's international live scene in three years after COVID-19 pandemic.
Radwimps has gained global fame as their music are featured in Makoto Shinkai's films, including the newly released Suzume. The band did not only write the songs, but also involved in composing the soundtracks.
Previously, Radwimps' music also appeared in other Shinkai's films: Kimi No Nawa (Your Name) and Tenki No Ko (Weathering With You). All of the films received stellar international reviews.
The promoters PK Entertainment and SOZO opened the online sales for Radwimps tickets in Jakarta earlier today at 10.00 AM local time.
The seats for Tribune Categories were almost instantly fully booked. Just a few minutes later, the standing Festival Category was fully booked as well.
The prices for the tickets are Rp1,250,000 (US$83) for Festival and Rp850,000 for Tribunes (US$56)
On Monday afternoon, PK Entertainment stated all tickets are officially sold out.
"RADWIMPS Asian Tour 2023 in Jakarta tickets are officially SOLD OUT!" said PK Entertainment on Instagram.
Requests for Day 2 Concert
The venue for the concert is the Basket Hall Senayan at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area. It has the capacity of nearly 2,500 seats, according to its official website. But that does not include the capacity for the standing audiences.
Some netizens on PK Entertainment's Instagram are requesting for a second day tour as they did not get the tickets.
"Please add a day," asked one female fan. "The moment is also precisely on my birthday, unfortunately sold out."
The ticket-hunting can be very challenging for Indonesian concert-goers in recent years, especially for international acts. Earlier this year, tickets for the K-Pop group NCT Dream were also quickly booked by the fans.
Promoters then have started to give two shows, such as during the recent "Born Pink Word Tour" by Blackpink. "The NCT Dream Tour: The Dream Show" had three-day shows in Tangerang.
Some ticket-scalpers (calo in Indonesian language) were also often trying to book the tickets and reselling them on social media.
However, the ticket sales by PK Entertainment and SOZO have managed to close the loophole for the ticket-scalpers. The buyers must pay the tickets within 15 minutes after booking, and therefore it was more difficult for the calo to resell the tickets on Twitter or other platforms.
The vocalist of Radwimps, Yoji Noda, apparently has heard the request from an Indonesian fan who asked the show to be relocated to a bigger venue.
"We'll try and see if there's other possibilities!" said Noda on Twitter.
Updated with an additional statement from Yoji Noda and explanation about the popularity of Japanese music in Indonesia.
