Liputan6.com, Jakarta - A woman identified as FD, aged 44, was tragically reported dead on the morning of Tuesday, September 26, 2023, near the Central Park Mall lobby in West Jakarta city. The woman was murdered and lost her life at the scene.

Central Park is a popular mall in West Jakarta. It is located near various famous private universities in the area, including Trisakti, Tarumanegara, Krida Wacana, and Podomoro universities.

"We received a report of a resident's murder around 7:00 AM local time, and unfortunately, the victim did not survive," said Tanjung Duren Police Chief, Police Commissioner Muharam Wibisono Adipradono on Thursday as quoted by Antara.

The authorities quickly identified and arrested the killer as a 26-year-old man with the initials AD.

"Shortly after the incident, the security and police successfully captured the perpetrator. At present, the suspect is detained, and we are actively conducting thorough investigations and interrogations," said Wibisono.

The victim was known to be a resident of an apartment complex near Central Park, near the Laguna Mall Central Park lobby. She was on her way to work when this tragic incident occurred.

The victim suffered severe neck injuries as a result of being attacked with a knife brought by the assailant from his home, leading to her immediate demise at the scene.

The police are presently delving into the motive behind this crime, as initial information indicates that there was no prior connection between the victim and the perpetrator. Consequently, the primary motive of the perpetrator remains unknown.

"We are still in the process of investigating. Based on initial statements, there was no prior acquaintance between the victim and the perpetrator. We are currently delving into the motive and other relevant aspects," explained Wibisono.

The police have mentioned that the perpetrator, AD (26), is likely suffering from a mental disorder.

During questioning, he provided perplexing and inconsistent responses. The authorities are also cross-referencing the statements of the perpetrator with those of witnesses.

Wibisono elaborated, "The responses were convoluted and inconsistent, frequently changing and sometimes unrelated. Hence, we are in the process of aligning the perpetrator's statements with those of witnesses. At this point, there is suspicion that the perpetrator may have a mental disorder."

Information from The Perpetrator's Family

In the meantime, the perpetrator's family has expressed their belief that he exhibited signs of mental disturbance. His mother revealed that AD displayed unusual and peculiar behavior at home.

Wibisono stated, "Information from the victim's family, including his mother and siblings, suggests that his daily life at home, given his unemployment, was characterized by abnormal and strange behavior."

It is worth noting that the perpetrator's mother had previously offered psychological treatment to him, which he declined. Additionally, there had been no previous instances of the perpetrator attacking anyone.

Wibisono clarified, "No, he had never done so. However, the perpetrator's behavior when he frequented the Central Park area was unusual. When asked about his whereabouts, his responses were often unrelated, such as saying he was heading to the sky and similar remarks."

Although the perpetrator is currently suspected of having a mental disorder, the police emphasize that they have not conclusively confirmed this diagnosis. Further medical examinations are necessary to validate this suspicion.

Wibisono emphasized, "We cannot definitively conclude the presence of a mental disorder at this time. However, there are indications, and we must substantiate these through medical assessments."
