JK to Lead the SAR Team on vanished AirAsia

The Indonesian government with the help of various nations will undergo intensive search and rescue operations for the next 7 days.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The recently vanished AirAsia QZ 8501 has called for some worldwide response. The fact that its status and location remain unknown only doubles the already existing uneasiness felt by the families of the victims and those who have profound sympathy towards the unwanted tragedy. Nonetheless, the government and the people view this incident with a hopeful heart as a large- scale Search and Rescue team from various nations exert maximum search endeavours throughout the location.

Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla said he will be fully involved and lead the Search and Rescue operation for the recently missing low- cost carrier which was reported to have been losing contact with the control tower early on Sunday (28/12/2014). He also confirms the Indonesian government full support and contribution to the search attempt by yielding all elements of national force as well as needed tools to hopefully locate the missing aircraft. The search will include attempt to find the debris of the missing plane in the sea and on land closest to the place the aircraft was last detected.

Jusuf Kalla also confirms that Basarnas has not yet been successful in trying to find any spottable ship wreckage or debris belonging to the missing plane.

"We will double our rescue search tomorrow to back up the current search that is still underway, JK said yesterday at the Basarnas office, Central Jakarta, Sunday (28/12/2014).

The government is said to have received aid and new offer from neighbouring countries to hasten the Search and Rescue operations. The search will continue for 7 dys starting from Sunday 28 December 2014. Should the attempt brings no result within that range of time, the government will decide what to do next and whether or not the search ought to continue.

“We have received offers from Singapore, Malaysia and Australia as a sign of full participation. We helped them last time as they search for the missing Malaysian Airlines. We still cannot locate the aircraft, the search will continue until the next seven days,” JK explains.

The primary focus for JK is to commence the search and rescue operation and to assure its effectiveness. Indonesia has been working closely with other nations shortly after the news of the missing plane populated worldwide media outlets.

"The Minister of Foreign Affairs has communicated with the ambassadors representing each victim from various nations that happen to be on that plane, and they have arrived," JK added.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla expresses his condolences to the victims of the missing plane. In his point of view, he believes that the tragedy is predominantly caused by an accident. He then stresses the need to find all cabin crew and passengers of the missing AirAsia.

His assumption is based on the fact that the plane lost contact with the tower for more than 10 hours.

"There is a possibility that it was caused by an accident. Victim is often misinterpreted. It does not necessarily mean they are dead. The families of the victims are also called victims. Victim has a lot of meanings," JK stated. (Ein)
