'Terrorism' Talk Deemed Imperative in RI-Iran Meeting

President Jokowi and President Hassan also took the time to discuss trading and cultural ties.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's meeting with Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha was followed by another meeting he held with the Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani.

Similar to his previous meeting, President Jokowi and President Rouhani performed the bilateral meeting at the Kakatua room, Jakarta Convention Centre, Senayan.

The Indonesian Cabinet Secretary, Andi Widjojanto was present at the location to share information regarding the discussions of President Jokowi and the foreign delegations. He shared how the discussion surrounded issue particularly on cultural ties.

"The two countries are dominated by mostly Muslim population and therefore the cultural cooperation ought to be intensified," Andi said at JCC Senayan, Thursday (23/4/2015).

Other topics such as trading and terrorism are also included in the discussions between the two leaders. There was a hopeful ambition for the two nations, to increase the trading volume in the short and longer terms.

As for terrorism, the two nations have reportedly been subjugated by the presence of radical group whose duty is to destabilize the balance of government power.

Thus Andi claimed that the two leaders sought for cooperation in containing and perishing extremist contingent once and for all.

"Terrorist groups hiding under the banner of Islam have resorted to violence which led to civilian casualties. The abolishment of such groups have to be done cooperatively by nations," Andi explained. (Akp/Tnt)
