British PM Realizes Indonesia is ‘Hungry for Foreign Investments’

Prime Minister David Cameron identified in detail Jokowi’s ambitious targets and offer cooperation for its successful attainment.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Since his inauguration last October, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has already recited his ambition to spur development in various sectors by allowing for the execution of his so- called 'reformed programs' (Nawacita) to become the main priorities of the Ministers within the Working Cabinet and the overall government institutions throughout the period of five years.

With such a relatively short period of time, his aspiration is likely to be challenged by the skeptics. Who view such ambition as problematic, profoundly convoluted and difficult to achieve as the vast natural resources outnumber the skilled human resources available for its utilization. And for many of unresolved domestic affairs prompts speculation which suggest the government’s incapability of overcoming national-scale issue, thereby furthering the general population’s distrust of their ability to sort out the large-scale ones.

British Prime Minister David Cameron courtesy call to Indonesia on the 27th and 28th of July 2015, might just be the perfect solution to rescue President Jokowi and to boost optimism in the realization of his programs.

In his four-day trade and investment mission to the Southeast Asian region where he actively engaged in the proceedings of World Economic Forum held in Shangri-la hotel Jakarta, Prime Minister David Cameron took the opportunity to deliver The UK’s growing interest to take part in the process of Indonesian development by encouraging expansion and accessibility of foreign investment into the archipelago nation.

He stressed the fact that the two countries 'need each other for economic growth and development'. Such gentle reminder could actually help President Jokowi to realize the fact that he is given the opportunity to rebut popular outcry and negative sentiment by considering The UK lucrative business deals and offer for other types of cooperation that could potentially act as the strengthening tool to bind these two maritime powers.

"Today it is about strengthening existing partnership, forging new relationships, and identifying new areas for collaborations between our two countries. Growth is a priority for us both," Prime Minister Cameron David uttered in his speech, Jakarta, July 28 2015.

Prime Minister David Cameron seemed to have done his homework on researching as well as identifying President Jokowi’s prioritized programs, and stated in detail the Indonesian government ambitious targets.

"Your president has set an ambitious target of tripling exports in five years to move the Indonesian economy away from reliance of its basic commodity export, to produce more value-adding exports," he further explained in detail President Jokowi’s aim.

Identifying such optimistic gesture, Prime Minister Cameron David again assured the audience about the imperativeness of the two countries to deepen ties especially with Indonesia ‘strategically located within the heart of Asian market and is hungry for foreign investments’.

"We are ready to support the work that you are doing infrastructure is the British expertise and prudent track record. Around the world," he concluded. (Akp/Tnt)
