Mikhail Galuzin: West Perception Poses no Harm to Russia-RI Tie

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia explains why recent airstrike in Syria which has been negatively viewed poses no threat to relation with RI.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The world is now focused on the war against terrorist organization ISIS in Syria which has been initiated by Russia not so long ago. While the country believes that the attack is aimed at terrorist facilities within Syria, a considerably large proportion of the world population is dictated by the very perception that equal threat is imposed on civilians residing in Syria.

Contesting ideas continue to be debated in each country’s political spectrum with the West continually generating its popular outcry requesting for the airstrike to stop.

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mikhail Galuzin shares how his country views the presence of terrorist group in his country is to a large extent, undesirable and therefore preventive measures to avoid future attempts of infiltration is deemed necessary and only with belligerence conducted militarily can this group be eradicated once and for all.

"Our government does not want this terrorist to come back to Russia and we want to prevent infiltration of terrorist into our country," Ambassador Mikhail stated during media conference held at his residence this afternoon, South Jakarta, Tuesday (6/10/2015).

According to Ambassador Mikhail, established military movement of the Russian can safely be considered as the legitimate and appropriate one especially with a green light from the Syrian government whereas the US led coalition was given the opposite gesture.

"We are in close dialogues with Syrian government while the West have no legitimate clearance from them," he further shared.

Ambassador Mikhail also explains that the popular outcry of the West aimed at the underestimation and rejection of Russia's aerospace forces venture does not pose a threat to Russia-Indonesia relation.

"Indonesia is an independent state, i don't expect any impact on Russia-Indonesia relation. I expect we will deepen and expand cooperation in countering terrorism," he concluded. (Akp/Tnt)
