Russian Ambassador on ISIS: We are Ready to Cooperate with West

Russian Ambassador to RI said that 'in fighting terrorism, we must help each other not against one another'.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - As the cowardly conducted criminal undertakings by the international terrorist network known as ISIL or ISIS continue to grow in number, Russia immediately responds to the growing need of its elimination. Russian Federation Ambassador to Indonesia Mikhail Galuzin stated in his speech during the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) ‘Evolving Multilateral Coalition against ISIS’ public forum on December 8 2015 at Borobudur hotel Jakarta, that the group ‘has becomE increasingly aggressive with its goal aimed at establishing a caliphate’.

Similar to previously stated remarks made by French Ambassador to Indonesia Corinne Breuzé and The United States Ambassador to Indonesia Robert O Blake Jr, Ambassador Galuzin expresses the most rational way to address such issue is to make furtherance of ‘a multilateral approach’ envisioning the eradication of the notoriously known extremist group in Syria.

Ambassador Galuzin also highlights the very unfortunate fact that the presence of these terrorist networks have hijacked the very essence of Islam as a religion and therefore it entails the cooperation with Muslim leaders from all over the world as well in attempts for its eradication and to restore the true names of Islam and its values.

“Terrorist makes a mockery of Islam, this was underscored by Russian President Vladimir Putin during UN General Assembly in September 2015,” he posits.

Regarding the coalition against the terrorist organization, Ambassador Galuzin explains the necessity of establishing a governing institution with laws monitored closely under UN auspices as concluded in the meeting held for the second time in Vienna among countries who are part of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).

The U.S Ambassador Blake has previously shared remark regarding the political process to govern the mending of the issue by requiring two contradicting sides within the political spectrum in Syria to ‘actually sit down together’ and talk it out.

“First they agreed to push for a formal beginning of a negotiation between the Syrian opposition and the Syrian regime, under UN auspices.”

Ambassador Galuzin similarly views such move as critical in the addressing of terrorist issue which has become so protracted overtime.

“It is necessary to launch as soon as possible a political process in Syria by establishing a Syrian opposition delegation to hold talks with the Syrian government,” he informs.

He however, believes that it is important to exclude terrorist organization within Syria and Iraq such as ISIS, Al –Qaeda or ‘Jabhat Al-Nusra’ to be part or given the opportunity to engage in the political transition processes as they will likely to disrupt the true making of a democratic nation with their contrary views.

“It is an objective reality we have to pay. Russia, whose airspace forces started to counter attack terrorist in Syria since September have helped Syrian government and army on the ground with tactics to liberate occupied territories,” he further informs.

“As u may know President Putin has ordered Russian navy ships in the Mediterranean to coordinate with the French navy, this is because we believe that all members of the international community should become allies in fighting terrorism.” He further shares Russia’s effort so far in cooperating with other nations in the fight against terrorism.

Russia, according to Ambassador Galuzin, ‘is ready as possible with the process to cooperate with the west and its coalition’.

“To fight terrorism together, we need to help each other, not against one another,” he concluded.
