Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Wave of shocking incidents have taken place in front of the police post Sarinah Mall, Central Jakarta. Traffic Management Center of Jakarta Regional Police informed on 10.50 am through its Twitter account that a major blast had occurred with three people reportedly lying dead at the scene.
Up until 11.00 am, explosions can be heard and exchange of fire continue to take place, as observed by Liputan6.com correspondents stationed at the location. The shootout reportedly continues hitherto to Jalan Sabang all the way to Kebon Sirih.

Witnesses at the location claim that there were 6 explosions heard in the early hours of Thursday (14/1/2016).

"I was at Sarinah when it occurred. I heard six blasts”, Amalia Maryunita who works at Sarinah told Liputan6.com.
According to her, all the staff were encouraged to keep a safe distance to avoid any injury and to prevent being accidentally victimized from the extreme shootout that has been described as similar to the ones carried out simultaneously in Paris, France.
Earlier this morning, four suspicious individuals entered Starbucks situated within the area of Sarinah.
“Four suspicious individuals stormed into Starbucks prior to explosions in the area. Their skin color was reportedly dark, almost African-like," Security of Mandiri Bank Tri Feranto shared to Liputan6.com.
"They were using black vest or jacket,” he continued.
After carefully carried out two terrorizing ventures, the alleged perpetrators went to conduct target-less shooting, furthering mayhem and fear at the location.
A person was shot dead, followed by enduring exchange of fire between the police.
The Head of Public Relation from Indonesian Police Headquarter Anton Charliyan informed that the attackers were heavily armed and carried grenades along with them.
Apart from Sarinah, explosion was also heard in the area of Palmerah, Jakarta.
"Yes information yielded was true but we do not know yet exactly where the location is," Member of Palmerah police force Febrian talked to Liputan6.com over the phone.
Up until now police has not yet captured any of the perpetrators from earlier’s attack.
