EU Urges Indonesia to Collectively 'Get Rid of Terrorism'

European Union Delegation to Indonesia Vincent Guérend spoke to Liputan6.com condemning acts of terror in Jakarta this morning.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The attacks this morning occurring at a number of specific points within Sarinah location in Jakarta led to the totaled casualties of 6 people (excluding the 7 terrorist which some have been declared as dead). They are:

  1. 21-year-old Chairil from Grogol West of Jakarta
  2. Aiptu Budiyono a police officer fro Central Jakarta headquarter
  3. 49-year-old Aiptu Dody Maryadi another officer stationed at the location
  4. Johanes Antonius Maria a Netherland national who works for UN REDD+
  5. 24-year-old Anggun from East Jakarta
  6. One victim remains unidentified

The Head of European Union Delegation in Indonesia Vincent Guérend spoke to Liputan6.com earlier on the phone claiming that “The European Union strongly condemns all terrorist attacks worldwide and certainly on the attacks which occurred earlier this morning”.

He continued as he expressed condolences to families of victims including police and foreign nationals that had to be victimized in such unwanted occasion.

"I think we need to collectively, the European Union and the rest of the international community together with the Indonesian government fight against terrorism, get rid of them," explained EU Ambassador Vincent to Liputan6.com.

Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo personally requested for the population to remain calm and wise up in examining the recent terror.

“President Jokowi requests for people to remain calm despite widespread terror. But surely we need to also be cautious of any possibility, but avoid being too overwhelmed or panicking over it,” Presidential Spokesperson Johan Budi SP stated.

President Jokowi has just recently paid a visit at the crime scene where he met the head of Indonesian Police to discuss about the case briefly together with Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.
