Indonesia 'Inner-Power' Plays Keyrole in Winning AEC Competition

RI Vice President Jusuf Kalla explains ASEAN Economic Community as more of a competition than a cooperation.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla encourages for his country and the economic and businesspeople within the archipelago state to make good use of their power, capability, knowledge and national resources to attain leading position in the competition among neighboring countries during ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

In his point of view, Vice President Jusuf Kalla believes that AEC is actually a competition in the economic realm but it has been hidden under the banner of what many dub as ‘cooperation’ as to make it look and seem like it is a healthy race against one another.

He therefore encourages involving national actors and companies to realize the fact that in order to attain leading positions, they could not rely wholly on other nations and that trust cannot be yielded fully as each will be fighting for its own dominance.

“Competition among countries in AEC is a competition in a cooperation and vice versa, a cooperation within a competition. That is why we cannot rely on other nation’s economy in this case,” Jusuf Kalla wrote, Saturday (16/1/2016).

Jusuf Kalla continues explaining how the true power is from within and that involving national actors ought to maximize the nation’s inherent power and domestic resources available within the country to win top position level in AEC.

According to him, Indonesia has abundant natural and human resources and these are some of the things that neighboring countries lack. 

With the availibity of those resources, he seeks to boost national economic actors and businesspeople spirits in the utilization of those aforementioned resources.
