Indonesia- Netherlands 'Shared Past and Relationship Hiccups'

Liputan6.com, Jakarta A relationship that lasts for hundreds of years may not be familiar of the word separation; it may as well grow accustom to one another that many similarities can be seen vividly in a gradual manner. This defines what Indonesia has with Netherlands hitherto. In spite of acquiring status of independence as a country, it cannot be denied that Indonesia is historically linked to Netherlands and many of the language used by Netherlands continue to be harnessed by the general population up to this modern era.

It also cannot be denied that a mirror effect of the two countries’ legal system is blatant and many of their rules are akin to one another.

“We have a shared past based of equality of relationship. Surely there is always ups and downs, shared relationship hiccups, but we always find a way to sort it out,” Netherland Ambassador Rob Swartbol spoke to Liputan6.com during special interview for ‘The Ambassador’.

He went to share that both Indonesia and Netherlands are working out a number of maritime and port development projects as a measure of deepening tie even further.

“Leaders talking to each other is good, but follow up and concrete implementation is important,” he shared.
