Local Women Saved Torture Victim After Seeing Her Crying in a Locked House in West Java

The West Javanese couple now face 10 years in prison.

Liputan6.com, Cimahi - A couple from West Bandung, West Java Province, are arrested for allegedly torturing their housemaid. The victim was spotted crying by some women who walked by the home who later called for help.

Viral video shows the neighbors, alongside men in security and military uniforms, decided to open the door by force as the home owners were away.

When they got in, a woman in a green shirt was seen heavily bruised around her eyes. The neighbor ladies were questioning the victim using Sundanese language. They were inspecting the housemaid's body and finding more injuries on her body.

The housemaid is said to be from Garut, another region in West Java Province. One of the women also felt the housemaid's body temperature and suspected she had a fever. 

"Have you eaten?" asked one of the women. 

The situation became viral on social media. The young couple who own that house were later seething in protest because their door was broken down.

"OK, if I have to follow to the (police) office. I will follow. It's all right. But why was my door destroyed?" the woman asked.

The woman was also implying the neighbors did not know the real cause of the housemaid's injury. Her husband, who was holding a baby, supported his wife's argument. 

"We can also settle this in a familial way," she recommended. 

The Sectoral Police of Cimahi, West Java, announced the couple were arrested on Monday (31/10/2022).

Arrested

Cimahi Police alleged the couple of locking up and beating up the victim.

Police also confirmed that the victim is originally from Limbangan in Garut Regency. She suffered injuries in various parts of her body. The victim is treated at the hospital.

The husband and wife with initials YK and LF are still being investigated. They could face up to 10 years in prison.

Police revealed the incident took place at Bukit Permata Residence in Cilame Village, West Bandung Regency.

According to the men who assisted to break down the door later explained how the women saw the housemaid crying and pleading for help.

The women could see the victims from the window. 

During the viral debate, the woman said she was simply going to buy groceries, but the men were questioning why she had to lock the door like that. Furthermore, the housemaid also told the neighbors that she had been beaten.
