"Equality is a core value that we respect and uphold together as we work together, allowing the great ASEAN ship to continue its journey," he explained.
Jokowi highlighted that within the ASEAN region, equality remains a vital principle. This commitment to equality, he explained, enables ASEAN to continue progressing together in unity.
Furthermore, Jokowi also acknowledged that differences in opinions are normal within a unified entity. He cited Indonesia's diversity in ethnicity, culture, language, and religion as an example.Â
"Differences in opinions make democracy stronger and show that we are all equal," Jokowi concluded.
This will be President Jokowi's final ASEAN Summit. He will finish his second term next year.Â
